Kia EV9 has finally introduced Auto Plus news to your smartphone Auto Plus news to your inbox

Here! After months of Kia cleverly disguising it for us, the EV9 has finally revealed itself. Starting with 2021 and the presentation of the EV6, EV (for Electric Vehicle) stands for Kia’s line of electric models. Like the IONIQ for its sister brand Hyundai. Therefore, Kia continues its electrification strategy by releasing a new 100% electric model. Most of its lineup is indeed electrified, from the Rio 48V to the large Sorento hybrid. Only the Picanto mini-city car isn’t, the rest are available in thermal, micro-hybrid, pure hybrid, battery hybrid and electric, of course.

A high class juggernaut

This EV9 will be the new flagship of Kia’s electric models, as the name suggests. It relies on Hyundai Group e-GMP platform, which, thanks to its modularity, made it possible to offer more than an extended wheelbase. Its dimensions are still unknown, but we will remind you the length of the concept exceeded 4.90 m ! Like the last one, the serial version takes pride of place geometric silhouette, emphasized by sharp edges and straight surfaces.

That’s even more true up front with that grille and that screen, which, for electrical purposes, is pierced by just two thin holes. The design of the lights is similar to the concept. With a long line of LEDs on the front that folds into a “3” shape on the back. A sports board is visible on board Dual screen 12.3 inches for the instrument panel and infotainment system. Both are part of a common plate that covers half of the instrument panel without the top cover.

7 places under an umbrella

This is undoubtedly one of the strong points of this new EV9: it will offer up to seven seats ! Two configurations will actually be offered. 6 seats with 2 rear seats that swivel for saloon configuration. Or seven seats with 3 seats in the second row. it acts as a forerunner in the field, the large 7-seater SUVs available on the European market are hybrids (Toyota Highlander, Ford Explorer and Mitsubishi Outlander coming soon). Only Vinfast VF9 offers such a configuration. The specifications of the EV9 are currently unknown. We can expect it to have at least the same battery as its EV6 sibling. Or 77.4 kWh and 325 horsepower in 4X4 all-wheel drive. Kia will tell us more as soon as possible next March 28!
