Moscow’s relations with Washington are at a low point, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a regular briefing on Tuesday.
At present, there are no high-level contacts between Russia and the United States, only technical channels of communication remain between the two countries, a representative of the Russian president told reporters.
“You know that there are no top-level contacts with Washington at the moment. There are more technical communication channels. Therefore, relations, of course, are at their lowest point,” he said.
Mr. Peskov added that there was no substantive discussion of the possibility of a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former US President Donald Trump, and there were no initiatives to organize such a meeting before the US presidential election.
Earlier, Trump told Fox News that the amount of aid to Ukraine if he wins the 2024 presidential election will “substantially depend” on the outcome of the meeting with Putin.
“While there was no substantive discussion on this matter, there were no initiatives on this matter,” Peskov said, answering the question whether Moscow is interested in such a meeting and whether the Kremlin allows it to be held even before the US presidential election, which will be held in 20 months.
Recall that in a nefarious campaign speech, Mr. Trump vowed on Monday to prevent World War III…
Mr. Peskov also reiterated that there can be no peace plan for Ukraine that does not take into account “new conditions and realities.” He reiterated that the only solution that can be given at the moment is by military means.
