Sorana Kirstya advanced to the round of 16 in Indian Wells, beating Bernarda Pera in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. The Romanian played an exciting game, controlling her opponent throughout the match.

For the first time in a straight match, Sorana Kirstia (83 WTA) overcame Bernarda Pera (43 WTA) in one hour and 9 minutes at the end of the match under the control of the only player from Romania who remained at Indian Wells 2023.

Sorana played well in the first set, also taking advantage of her opponent’s 4 double faults. It took her only 39 minutes to award her first action.

In the second set, Sorana started quite aggressively and tried to wear out her opponent, and after 30 minutes, the Romanian ended the dispute.

With this victory, Sorana received a check for $96,955 and 120 points in the WTA singles ranking.

In the next act of the competition, Sorana will meet the winner of the duel between Leila Fernandez (49 WTA) and Caroline Garcia (5 WTA).

Indian Wells will be held from March 6-19 on hard and 96 players have started in the two main draws. The contest offers $8,800,000 each for men and women. Titled champions – Taylor Fritz and Iga Svyatek.
