Lexus: hybrid first supercar, then electric? News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

It’s no secret that Lexus is currently developing a kind of “spiritual successor” to the iconic LFA. Several Japanese media outlets specify it as 100% electric Lexus may launch its first plug-in hybrid modelbefore presenting it with a 100% electric motor.

Lexus chose to base its model on the TNGA GA-L platform with an aluminum chassis and a body composed mostly of carbon fiber to keep the weight down.

Ferrari and Lamborghini hybrids in sight?

According to BestCarWeb, the upcoming Lexus supercar will be powered by a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that is expected to develop up to 710 hp. This engine can be accompanied by an electric unit to increase the power of more than 900 hp. At this level, Lexus could be dealing with supercars like the Ferrari SF90 Stradale or the upcoming Lamborghini Aventador replacement.

According to several Japanese media, then the supercar will be released in a 100% electric version, but after the hybrid version. However, the future general manager of Toyota, Koji Sato, said a few months ago that Lexus is indeed preparing a supercar, specifying that it will be 100% electric. Therefore, surprises could not be ruled out.

See you in 2025?

Japanese media specify that the car should be released in 2025 in the PHEV version, and in 2026 – in the electric version. Prices should be about 300,000 euros according to the first rumors.

We remind you that Koji Sato has already confirmed that the Electrified Sport Concept inspired the creation of the supercar, clarifying that it will be able to accelerate to 100 km/h. in less than two seconds.

Lexus is also aiming for range all around 700 km with a single charge, while it would also be possible that the model will be equipped with a “fake” manual gearbox, which is responsible for simulating gear changes to emphasize the driving pleasure.
