
According to the decision of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food, registered in Diaugia, the cheese product “Tsalafuti” was registered in the list of products with protected designation of origin (PDO).
In particular, the ministry “Accepts no. protocol 1298/158166/8-6-2022 final request of the TSALFOUTI informal producer group for registration in the Register of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO), Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) and Traditional Unique Products (TGI) Guaranteed EU, the name “TSALAFOUTI”, for cheese product, as a protected designation of origin (PDO) within the framework of Regulation (EU) 1151/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 November 2012, on quality systems for agricultural products and foodstuffs”.
Tsalafuti is a traditional Greek soft, spreadable white cheese with a velvety texture, creamy feel, and a moisture content of around 75%. Its taste is reminiscent of a combination of yogurt, cream and butter together.
