The phrase “we are not all the same” Sharilau Trikoupis sums up the strategy adopted PASOK in the center of the Tempe tragedy, and it will follow in the march until the election. OUR Nikos Androulakis and its collaborators believe that their party is at this stage justifying the distance it has consistently kept during the previous period from attempts to spread general toxicity in political discourse. In fact, as is commonly reported, the low tone of confrontation between the two sides lasted only a few days, and already now the climate has begun to polarize again and toxicity dominate.
The PASOK leadership group believes that favorable conditions are being created for the emergence of a different model of political practice, which they have consistently sought to promote throughout the previous period. And that, in addition, society, in a state of shock from a multi-death tragedy, will turn away from the fruitless, toxic confrontation between the two main parties and will be more receptive to cold political discourse, arguments and proposals. First, in Harilau-Trikoupi they see an opportunity for the party to move away from an almost unequivocal agenda, phone tapping, and to be heard about its proposals on broader issues relating to the daily lives of citizens.
One of Mr. Androulakis’ top priorities at this stage is to defend PASOK in an attempt to spread responsibility horizontally. Thus, they hastened to exclude from the ballot the doctor Nikolaos Oturas, whose name appeared in the case of issuing a medical license to the inspector of the head of the station of Larisa. This was both a symbolic move to show that there are reflexes and nothing is left to chance, and an important one, as it was assumed that any extension of consideration of a particular candidate would be used by other parties in order to place PASOK in the frame of responsibility for the Tempe tragedy.
In addition, in the near future the party will present its own proposals, a comprehensive framework for improving the security conditions in railway transport.
Today and tomorrow, at the invitation of Mr. Androulakis, the Presidium of the Eurogroup of Socialists will meet in Athens. Social housing, first home protection for weak borrowers and youth employment insecurity will be discussed today. Tomorrow, MEPs will be escorted to the Acropolis Museum and informed of the request to return the Parthenon sculptures, followed by a closed session to discuss the rule of law in Greece.
