A court in Paris on Wednesday dismissed the lawsuit filed by First Lady Brigitte Macron after she sued two women in February 2022 who spread false news online that she was transgender, News.ro reported, citing AFP.
In its decision, seen by AFP, the court invalidated Brigitte Macron’s complaint about the violation of the right to privacy and the right to image, considering that the facts condemned by her should have been classified as public. defamation.
Brigitte Macron, her brother and the first lady’s three children filed a lawsuit on February 15, 2022, against two women, one of whom described herself as a “medium” and the other as an “independent journalist.”
The plaintiffs asked the court to award the two women compensation for the broadcast on the “medium’s” YouTube channel on December 10, 2021 of the “absolutely implausible thesis” that Brigitte Macron, born Tronier, would have, if he never existed, his name actually would be Jean-Michel Tronier, and her brother would have taken that name after changing sex.
This false information, which initially spread unnoticed, later became more widespread and led to more serious accusations of pedophilia against the first lady.
The plaintiffs argued that their right to privacy had been violated because the four-hour interview, which was broadcast online, referred to surgeries Brigitte Macron allegedly underwent, claimed she was not the mother of his three children, and provided personal information about his brother. .
The complaint also denounces the violation of the right to images, as during this interview various photographs of the complainants were broadcast, some of which were “retouched, enlarged and colored.”
In parallel with this civil action, on January 31, 2022, 69-year-old Brigitte Macron filed a separate criminal case alleging public defamation. This proceeding is still ongoing.
The French president’s relationship with his wife, 24 years his senior, whom he met when she was a teacher and he was still a teenager, a schoolmate of his daughter, periodically attracts media attention in France and abroad.
This is not the first time that the couple has been the subject of rumors about gender or sexual orientation: during the 2017 presidential campaign, Emmanuel Macron denied claims of his homosexuality, News.ro cites.
