The players were shocked by Bukhaz’s performance

Technician Abdel Bouhazama was last in charge of his team from the bench on Sunday in a 0-5 defeat against Montpellier. Bukhazama tried to mobilize his players by condemning the behavior of the media around the club and speaking on the theme of “one against all”, according to News.ro.

So, to illustrate his point, the 54-year-old coach mentioned the situation of Ilyes Chetty, who occupies the position of left-back appointed on Sunday in the absence of other decisions for the position.

With Chetty under investigation for allegedly indecently touching a young woman during a night out in a nightclub, Bukhazama’s coach tried to justify his choice to start the match with Ilyes Chetty in front of the other players.

“It’s not bad, we’ve all touched girls before,” words that would have “shocked” the players, leaving them “inappropriate” ahead of the meeting with Montpellier. Several people reported the departure of the coach in the newspapers L’Equipe and Ouest-France.

In response to the controversy that followed his unfortunate remarks, the Angers technician resigned on Tuesday.

“Faced with media pressure and in order to preserve the club’s image and calm in the dressing room, Abdel Bukhazama has informed president Said Shabana that he has decided to leave his post,” the club said in a press release.

Abdel Bukhazama has been the coach of “Angers” since November 2022. He will be replaced by interim coach Alexander Duzhe.
