The investigation into contract 717 by prosecutor Athanasia Vlacho resulted in complaints that led to the intervention of the prosecutor and related to public damages in the amount of 3 million euros as a result of project delays. However, from the investigations conducted by the Transparency Office, the conclusion of which was sent to the Financial Prosecutor’s Office, according to the information, it did not appear that the public suffered damage, and therefore the case was opened in 2021.
However, it was subsequently withdrawn in 2022 when new evidence emerged and was brought to the attention of the Financial Prosecutor by the European Prosecutor’s Office, which to this day is investigating the public funds part of the case. .
However, in addition to the investigation by the European Prosecutor’s Office, according to the information of the Economic Prosecutor’s Office, it is being investigated for crimes of disloyalty towards society (i.e., is already studying:
- Contract 2005 for the modernization of the railway network in the section of Athens, Acharnes, Liosia, Corinth.
- Contract 2013 for the section Acharnes – Tiforea.
- The contract for 2013 is also for the Tiforea-Domokos section.
- Contract 2015 on the Piraeus-Athens section.
Investigations by the Economic Prosecutor’s Office reportedly concern only establishing whether a crime of disloyalty to society has taken place, and not other crimes.
