A few weeks ago, the Jeep Avenger won the Car of the Year award, which was then awarded by the Car of the Year jury. A historic trophy for an American brand, which receives it for the first time for its first electric car. But there is another international competition that is starting to grow in scale and is recognized by all car manufacturers. It is the World Women’s Car of the Year, which awards the best car of the year every year. For this, the jury takes into account several criteria, including design, driving pleasure, price and safety.

New winner

A few weeks before, WWCOTY announced the winners in six categories, namely Citroën C5 X, Jeep Avenger, Audi RS 3, Ford Ranger, Nissan X-Trail, and Kia Niro. Today is the turn of the main prize, which will be awarded to one of these vehicles. This is the Niro, which the jury members recognized as the best car of 2023. Therefore, the latter was approved by experts, although, as explained by Marta García, the president of the organization, the number of votes was small. ” “this year the election was particularly difficult due to the very high level of different candidates. All the finalists had their chances to win the trophy ».

A unique jury in the world

What is special about this international competition? The jury consists only of female automotive journalists, of which there are currently 63, located in 43 countries of the world. They are then responsible for selecting the best car each year from among the latest innovations released to the market. This organization was created in 2009 in New Zealand by journalist Sandy Mair, now the honorary president of this competition, which is growing more and more and which also aims to give more visibility to women in the automotive sector.
