PSD MP Daniel Suchiu went back on Tuesday to a statement he made from the gallery of the Chamber of Deputies during a plenary session discussing a simple proposal addressed to the labor minister, in which he said that “women enjoy each. an extra minute.”
“I didn’t mean what I said yesterday to be offensive. I’m not a misogynist and I’m not rude, my colleagues know that,” said the NSDP deputy, apologizing for the verbal blunder.
Presiding over Monday’s plenary, PSD MP Daniel Suchiu said from the Chamber’s rostrum that he was offering USR MPs an extra minute to discuss the simple motion against Minister Marius Budai, but he also made an additional remark:
“For balance, even if Ms. Zoyu (Oana Tsoyu, USR MP, no) will have one more minute, we will compensate with a minute from the minorities. I know that women are happy with every extra minute,” he said.
USR MP Oana Zoiu stepped up to the microphone and replied: “You can take your minute back and do what you want with it. I thank the minority group, but I remind you that I came here to the Parliament as an elected member of the Romanian Parliament, not as your joker colleague.’
At the plenary session on Tuesday, Daniel Suchiu returned to the rostrum and apologized for the statement made the day before.
“Neither from that microphone, nor from this one, I have the right to utter and use words, hints, sentences that can be considered offensive, especially to our colleagues. I have no problem admitting that yesterday (not on Monday) I used such a sentence, which I deeply regret. I didn’t mean what I said yesterday to be offensive. I once again apologize to Ms. Zoya and to Ms. Alexandra in particular, but to all my colleagues for this sentence. I’m not misogynistic or rude, my colleagues know that, but I think it’s a form of dignity when I make a mistake to come and say it,” Suchiu said.
