Cabinet: Tragedy in Tempe is the only topic on the agenda on Thursday

Issues of the tragic accident in the city of Tempe (possible institutional steps, interventions to be taken immediately, etc.) will be at the center of the next cabinet meeting on Thursday, March 9, chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

According to government sources, there will be no other items on the agenda.

On Friday, March 10, the Prime Minister will visit the President of the Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou. The visit, according to the same sources, takes place within the framework of their monthly regular meetings and is not connected with anything else.

Elections: April scenario withdrawn

As written in today’s card “K”The Maximos Palace plans to deal with an incredible tragedy, as after identifying the victims and moving the wagons, the government is called to move on to the next stage, which is related to the answers to the causes of the tragedy.

As for the political side, there is still no discussion on the topic of elections in Maximos Palace, as the Prime Minister unequivocally repeated at the last “morning coffee”. However, the April 9 scenario is becoming more and more distant as national mourning will continue “silently” until Friday, when all parties and other events will be “banned”.

This practically means that from next week, due to the most recent tragedy, the prime minister will have to call elections as the constitutional deadline expires on March 19, which seems very difficult at the moment. In addition, it is assumed that the elections in a month, under the weight of the tragedy, will become almost instantaneous.

On the contrary, with the coming of Easter, if the elections are held on May 14 or 21, and the second on July 2, there will be a sufficient distance from the tragic event, and it is assumed that the responsibility will be fairly divided, since, as well as the government, he will be able to realize what he undertakes. In any case, decisions will be made starting Friday.

SYRIZA wants high-level conflict in parliament

All weekend Alexis Tsipras was in Komunduru, planning further steps with his closest associates in connection with the national tragedy in Tempi. He pointed out that national mourning and respect for the victims and their families require careful steps, which, however, will not weaken the party’s goal to highlight the responsibility that exists for the neglect of the railways.

When asked by “K” to a presidential ally, if the party’s plan included submitting a question to the prime minister or requesting an early debate in parliament, the answer indicated the intentions: “Everything will be done on time.” As soon as the information about the non-holding of elections on April 9 is confirmed, all available parliamentary funds will be thrown on the table.
