“Rock, Pencil, Scissors, Paper” in… ASEP

“Egg, snail, next?” miracles in the corresponding group that was created on social networks, a candidate for ASEP competition (Supreme Personnel Council), which took place on Saturday, March 4. Questions on language and numerical thinking, which were asked in this competition for the first time, caused many reactions, which made it possible this time for a public confrontation between the contestants. Some candidates report that they don’t understand their usefulness as well as the logic that governs them, moving to completely dismissive characterizations such as “it was for laughs.” Others emphasize that such questions are included in the exams that many foreign universities ask. The correct answers are expected to be made public by ASEP in the coming days, however, many of the institutions that have taken over the preparation of candidates have already published the answers.

It is significant that question 29 of linguistic reasoning caused the greatest reactions. If “Grapes” is semantically related to “Banana”, then “Gloves” semantically corresponds to which of the four versions? A. Scarf B. Socks C. Hat D. Glasses. However, ASEP sources said that 76,799 candidates took the exams, so “reactions are expected, which, however, concern a minimum percentage of candidates in relation to the total.” The written examination was conducted by multiple choice questions in a total of five hundred twenty-seven examination centers, in forty-four regional divisions. It was attended by 70% of those who originally registered, and their number reached 108,000 people.

Reactions to questions in the competition – Complaints about delays and about the quality of photocopies.

Also, some candidates express dissatisfaction with the delay in submitting subjects in some examination centers throughout the country, as well as the quality of the distributed photocopies, which had photo shadows, which could confuse someone. The ASEP President emphasizes in his statement that he is aware of the complaints received. “I receive complaints from candidates about problems and delays observed in the reproduction of subjects in some examination centers, despite the fact that they were sent to schools with absolute timeliness. The Central Competition Commission and I will study them with due attention as soon as we form a complete picture from the reports of the presidents of the examination centers,” says Mr. Athanasios Papaioannou.

“I hope the results will justify their (examined) efforts, and I remind you that this competition is a ranking competition and not a recruitment competition,” adds the ASEP president.
