“Following my appointment as a member of the commission of inquiry into the causes of the tragic accident in Tempi as a professor of transport at the University of Thessaly, a number of statements and publications on behalf of political figures concerning me followed regarding my past term as president and managing director of TRAINOSE SA.

In view of the special weight of the Committee for the whole of Greek society, I would not like my status to be used as an alibi to undermine the honesty and impartiality of the work and opinion of the Committee.

For this reason, I do not take up my duties in the Commission and remain at the disposal of the state, as far as I can be useful in my specialty.
