French prosecutors have charged the Moroccan national team and Paris Saint-Germain defender Ashraf Hakimi with rape, according to Agence France-Presse and the TF1 network.
The newspaper Le Parisien reported on the complaint of a 24-year-old girl who accused Hakimi of rape on Saturday, February 25, in his house in the western suburbs of Paris.
The victim refused to press charges against the player, but the police officer he spoke to recorded the complaint and reported it. Within a week, the local prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, Paris, became interested in the case, and now, given the seriousness of the alleged events and the reputation of the alleged perpetrator, the local prosecutor has taken matters into his own hands.
The footballer is now under judicial supervision and is prohibited from contacting the complainant.
Hakimi is also 24 years old and has achieved fame at Real Madrid. He also played for Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan.
In December, the international defender finished fourth with Morocco at the World Cup, losing in the secondary final to Croatia.
