US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken issued a widely accepted warning from India on Friday, stressing that if Russia is not punished for what it is doing in Ukraine, other countries could also be humiliated.

“If we allow Russia to do what it is doing in Ukraine with impunity, it will send a signal everywhere that others can get away with what they are doing,” the US minister said.

Mr. Blinken explained that countries outside of Europe are as focused on the war in Ukraine as countries on the continent because they know there could be repercussions elsewhere if Russia is allowed to continue doing what it is doing with impunity.

Blinken’s warning also echoes a statement he made in Athens during a meeting with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias 10 days ago, when he sent a message to Turkey saying that “if we allow this to continue with impunity, we will open Pandora’s Box around the world.” a world where the law of the possible will operate and potential aggressors will say that since Russia gets away with it, then we can too. And that’s not the future we want.”

Mr. Blinken spoke on Friday at the Raisina 2023 Dialogue in New Delhi on this issue, which was personally attended by all Quad foreign ministers namely India, the US, Japan and Australia.

Regarding the Quad team, Mr. Blinken said he believes it is a force for good and positive action.
