One of the most interesting concept cars of 2022 was undoubtedly the Hyundai N Vision 74. Inspired by the silhouette of the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, this sporty concept has been praised by many enthusiasts for a number of reasons, starting with its retro design, and futuristic.
And it looks like Hyundai plans to capitalize on that popularity production of this model.
Hope is being revived among fans
At the moment, nothing is official yet, but it seems that something is well and truly happening in the offices of the Asian manufacturer. Recently at the Canadian International Auto Show, Till Wartenberg, vice president of the brand’s N division, admitted that he really wanted to build a production N Vision 74.
The leader emphasized that it will happen significant investment in terms of technology and productionbut these efforts may be rewarded by the image that such a model will create for a manufacturer like Hyundai.
Till Wartenberg did not go further and therefore did not give final dates, prices or specifications. Let’s just say it gives some hope to those hoping to maybe put a production version of this impressive concept car in their garage.
Hydrogen updated in the serial version?
The Hyundai N Vision 74, however, is a complex concept car to industrialize. Indeed, the prototype is based on a hydrogen power plant.
As a reminder, the concept combines fuel cells and a battery, using hydrogen as a kind of range extender, an alternative to the energy provided by the battery itself. The implementation of such a system in a serial car can raise prices.
Two electric motors, located at the back, ensure operation 680 hp and 900 Nm. Announced from 0 to 100 km/h 4 secondsthe maximum speed is 250 km/h and autonomy would be approx 600 km. Hyundai also clarifies that you can fill up with hydrogen in less than five minutes.
