His family Tom Sizemoreat the insistence of doctors, “decides the question of the end of life” of an American actor who, according to his manager, was in the hospital for ten days with a brain aneurysm.
Sizemore, 61, best known for his roles in films such as Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down and Natural Born Killers, had drug problems and was even imprisoned for domestic violence.
According to the American media: “Today, doctors told his family that there was no hope and recommended that he commit suicide. The family is discussing the matter and will make an announcement on Wednesday.”
The family asks people to respect their privacy during this difficult time and is grateful for the thousands of messages of support they have received.
Sizemore rose to prominence in the 1990s and co-starred with Tom Hanks in the 1998 Oscar-winning film Saving Private Ryan. Other films he appeared in were Pearl Harbor, Heat and True Love, and the 1999 television film Witness Protection, for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe.
The fame and abuse prompted him to write a book about heroin and crystal meth addiction.
In 1997, he was arrested on suspicion of abusing his wife, actress and tennis player Maeve Quinlan. They divorced two years later.
In 2003, he was sentenced to six months in prison for beating his partner Heidi Fleiss and was ordered to enter a rehabilitation program.
In recent years, he has appeared in the hit Netflix series Cobra Kai and played a role in the 2017 revival of David Lynch’s Twin Peaks.
