Mercedes has released the first details of its future operating system MB.OS, which will be launched on the new MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) platform by the middle of the decade. MB.OS is designed and developed in-house and based on the architecture chip to the cloud specially designed. This new operating system has full access to all aspects of the car: infotainment, automated driving, comfort, driving and charging. This strategic approach allows the German brand to offer its customers a unique product that stands out from the competition.

MB.OS will be scalable and offer continuous improvements”– said Ola Kellenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz.

Mercedes MB.OS: a system common to all models

The Mercedes MB.OS system will be standardized cars of all brands, will benefit from rapid updates and will be open to external partners. Mercedes-Benz defines and controls the architecture with its own basic hardware and software, while the integration of reference technologies gives customers access to the best services, content and functions.

These partners include Nvidia, which will provide its expertise in software, data and artificial intelligence, and its Orin system, which will improve Level 2 and 3 autonomous driving systems. will provide next-generation LiDAR sensors, and Google will provide next-generation GPS navigation experience in cars

Mercedes will further expand its infotainment functions with new ones new partnerships, especially for videos, games and productivity applications. In particular, through Antstream it will be possible to play arcade games, or use solutions for video conferencing in the car with Webex and Zoom.

Mercedes MB.OS: connected and personalized services

The Mercedes MB.OS operating system will be regularly updated via remote software update. It will also be fully connected via Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Cloud and Mercedes Me ID for customers.

Three packages of services customers will be offered: MB.Connectwhich includes navigation, remote access, Guard 360° alarm, entertainment and communication, MB. Downloadwhich offers electric car customers flexible and attractive tariffs, as well as priority access to the powerful Mercedes-Benz charging network.

Finally, p MB.Drive, customers will have the opportunity to expand the functions of driver assistance systems in their cars. All future Mercedes models will be equipped with the technology required for level 2 driving assistance, while some models will be able to benefit from level 3. From 2025, some functions will be upgradeable via the Mercedes Me Store, accessible via the app, the internet or from inside the car.
