Dozens of searches were carried out on Tuesday morning in the counties of Timișoara, Arad, Satu Mare, Caras Severin, Alba, Olt, Dambovitsa and the municipality of Bucharest in a criminal case involving Romanian citizens and foreigners who were grouped into three groups. are targeted criminals who harbored migrants in our country, who then smuggled them to Central or Western Europe in exchange for large sums of money. More than 60 people should be brought to the meeting.

“On February 28, 2023, the police of the Office for the Fight against Organized Crime, the Brigades for the Fight against Organized Crime in Bucharest, Timisoara, Alba Iulia, Oradea, Craiova, Ploiesti and the Services for the Fight against Organized Crime in Caraş Severin, Arad and Dâmboviţa together with prosecutors of DIICOT – ST Timişoara, BT Arad and BT Caraş Severin conduct 50 searches in the counties of Timiş, Arad, Satu Mare, Caraş Severin, Alba, Olt, Dambovitsa and the municipality of Bucharest. in 3 criminal proceedings on the grounds of committing the crimes of creating an organized criminal group and trafficking in migrants,” reports IGPR.

As a result of the research, it was found that since 2022, several individuals, Romanian citizens and foreign citizens, united in three criminal groups, the main purpose of which was to hide in places located on the territory of Romania, and then transport groups of migrants to the countries of the Central or of Western Europe, by illegally crossing the state border of Romania, in order to obtain important material benefits.

DIICOT clarifies that about 40 illegal transports involving members of criminal groups were intercepted and stopped, in which more than 800 migrants were found who intended to illegally cross the state border of Romania to the countries of the European Union.

More than 60 people should be brought to the meeting.
