​The French prosecutor’s office has begun an investigation into the alleged rape committed by Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Le Parisien reports.

The Morocco international, who was named in the best 11 of the year at the FIFA The Best awards gala, has been accused by a 24-year-old woman of raping her at his home in the suburbs of Paris.

According to the woman, they started communicating on Instagram on January 16, and on Saturday, February 25, the football player invited her to his home. Hakimi allegedly began kissing her on the mouth and breasts and, despite her protests, sexually assaulted her. The young woman said she managed to escape after kicking the footballer and called a friend to come get her.

The woman reported the incident to the police station on Sunday, but did not file a report. According to the quoted source, the prosecutor’s office handling the case in Nanterre declined to comment, but complained that “information that has already been made public” in the press “undermines the investigations necessary to find out the truth.”

Secretly married in 2020 to Hiba Abuk, a soap opera actress from Spain, Hakimi has two children.
