Olena Ostapenko (25 years old, 20 WTA) once again excelled at the WTA tournament in Dubai. The Latvian and Lyudmila Kichenok fought to reach the doubles final with Veronika Kudermetova/Ludmila Samsonova.

In the match, which Ostapenko/Kichenok lost 5-7, 2-6, the athlete from Latvia deflected the ball from Samsonova and hit Kudermetova in the face, who immediately put her hand to her jaw and complained of severe pain.

Ostapenko, however, was not interested in the condition of his district colleague. Immediately after Veronika Kudermetova’s shot, the Latvian looked at her opponent for a second, then followed the ball, which bounced from the Russian to the opponent’s court and rolled it over the net, although the point was over because the ball was not played with the racket.

Veronika Kudermetova was visibly shocked by the blow, and in the next break she brought an ice pack to her face. In the end, the Russians of Samsonov and Kudermetova prevailed and qualified for the final in Dubai, where Hao-Ching Chan and Latisha Chan won 4-6, 7-6 (4), 10-1.

Thus, Olena Ostapenko packed her bags and went home. Without referring to the unwanted moment in the last match in Dubai, the athlete published two messages on social networks.
