The fire department has been alerted that two more fires have recently broken out in the forested areas of Zakynthos.
The first fire broke out in the “Small Island” area of Wolimo, just a few kilometers away from the ongoing fire in Kority, and the second occurred in the village of Agala, close to residential areas.
All of the island’s fire brigades are on alert to put out fires, with firefighting aircraft arriving from the air. An ally of the fiery flame are the strong winds that blow on the island and reach 9 points on the Beaufort scale.
As for the Koriti fire, the situation is better and firefighters are expected to bring it under control.
