Russia has accused the West of “destabilizing” the G20 meeting of finance ministers in India by trying to “blackmail” the joint communiqué on Ukraine. which did not happen due to disagreements.
“We regret that the work of the G20 continues to be destabilized by the collective West and used for anti-Russian and purely confrontational purposes,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
According to Moscow, the US, the EU and the G7 “threatened the adoption of collective decisions” by trying, through “blatant blackmail”, to impose “dictatorship” so that their interpretation of the conflict in Ukraine would appear in a joint communiqué.
The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Washington and its allies of issuing “ultimatums” to “many delegations.”
“We call on the collective West to abandon its destructive policy as soon as possible in order to realize the objective realities of a multipolar world,” the statement says.
The finance ministers of the G20 countries sharply condemned Moscow for its war against Ukraine, and only China and Russia refused to sign a joint communiqué.
India, which chairs the G20, is reluctant to mention the war in Ukraine, but Western countries have threatened not to sign a text that does not condemn the Russian invasion.
The lack of full consensus among G20 members has led India, as chair, to release a summary of the results of the two-day meeting of finance ministers and the differences expressed.
