“The Board of Directors and Artistic Director of the National Theater today took the initiative to meet with the coordinating bodies of the squatters that are developing in its buildings.
During the discussion, the authorities of the National Theater reaffirmed their position, stated in the message of 02/09/2023, and declared their commitment to the need for a legislative solution to the issue of autonomous attribution of art education to a new, special category (Art Education – “EC”) at a higher level “DO”, adjusted for the score P.D. 85/2022.
At the same time, giving priority to the rallying of the theater community, but at the same time fully aware that the National Theater bears a disproportionate burden, they expressed the opinion to the coordinating bodies of the occupations that advocating for their demands would now be more effective and mutually beneficial, with the National Theater and its stages open to the public, its staff and its artistic and educational activities. In this context, the Theater publicly invites them to consider other forms of action that will not hinder its artistic program, undertaking to programmatically and by all means promote further dialogue.
At the same time, the state is called upon to intensify the positive initiatives of recent days at the level of wages in order to finally resolve the acute non-salary issues of professional classification and correspondence and completely de-escalate the situation.
