The medal of the untimely deceased Olympic champion Alexandros Nikoladis was delivered to the Athens Olympic Museum by his family.

The medal will be placed in a specially designed display case created in the Athens 2004 hall as a tribute to his achievements, next to important memorabilia from the 2004 Olympics.

The Olympian’s medals were auctioned off with proceeds donated to children’s charities. After the auction, they were returned to his family, who donated his medal from the 2004 Athens Olympics to the Athens Olympic Museum for five years.

The handover event was attended by students and faculty, among others.

The medals and personal belongings of Olympic and Paralympic athletes that adorn the museum’s exposition are a tribute to Greek athletes.

The museum, through its permanent exhibition and its events, seeks to introduce the principles and values of the Olympic movement, to inspire and motivate visitors to get acquainted with the history of sports and Olympism.
