Two new Fiats: which models are they? News from Auto Plus in your smartphone News from Auto Plus in your mailbox

While Stellantis has already announced its roadmap for most of its brands, Fiat is a bit more opaque. But with the announcement of its financial results, the group gave some clues about the future of Fiat, in particular the appearance of two new 100% electric models in the near future.

But what models will these be? New Fiat Topolino? An SUV about four meters long? New Fiat Uno? A new generation of Fiat Panda? Another model? Nothing official yet, but what is certain is is that Fiat will introduce two new electric cars in 2023.

Small electric SUV with insurance

During the presentation of the results, Carlos Tavares, CEO of the group, showed a slide in which he talked about two new models, the launch date of which is set for the second half of 2023.

However, with some searching and thinking, we can guess at least one of the models. We’ve known for a while that Fiat’s new small SUV will be built in Tychy, Poland, and it will be closely related to the Jeep Avenger and the upcoming small SUV from Alfa Romeo. And this model should be presented this year.

On the other hand, what we don’t know is the name of this famous model. You could call it Fiat 600 and replace the Fiat 500X with an even more SUV. Stellantis could also revive the ‘Uno’ name combined with the ‘Cross’ suffix, which evokes the historic Fiat model combined with an SUV.

Is a new Citroën Ami cousin in the works?

If the first model will usually be an SUV, then what will the second one promised by the transalpine manufacturer be? Everything is a little more complicated here. Some rumors point to the return of Topolino. In fact, it will be a technical cousin of the Citroën Ami, a recipe already applied by Opel in the Rocks-e.

Thus, in these two hypotheses, there is no place for the electric Fiat Panda, which seems to repeat the style of the Centoventi concept car presented in 2019 at the Geneva Motor Show.

This model should arrive a little later, around 2024. It will be an important car for Fiat. Like the 500, the Panda is an iconic model for the manufacturer. This will require a further development process, as even though the car will share its underbody with other models from Stellantis, it will benefit from its own characteristics.
