Evening exercise may reduce the risk of early death more than morning or evening exercise, according to a new large-scale study of more than 90,000 men and women in the UK.

The study in question, published a few days ago in the journal Nature Communications, collects data on a total of 92,139 men and women who agreed to wear a special meter (activity tracker) for a week.

Based on enumerator data, the researchers divided volunteers according to how often and when they moved, checked mortality records up to seven years after the start of the study, and compared patterns of mobility and death.

It has been shown that men and women who engage in more moderate or vigorous physical activity (equivalent to brisk walking) live longer compared to those who exercise rarely.

Those who exercise between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. are less likely to die prematurely from heart disease or other causes (other than cancer) compared to those who exercise before 11 a.m. or after 17:00

The longevity benefits of evening exercise were most pronounced in men and the elderly.
