
The construction of the Holocaust Museum is proceeding according to plan, as the Mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas announced that a preliminary building permit had been obtained.
According to the municipality of Thessaloniki, the procedures that were entrusted to its services were carried out as quickly as possible in order to fulfill the obligation taken by the mayor to provide prior approval during the current month.
As the Municipality of Thessaloniki points out in a statement, it has supported in practice the project of establishing the Holocaust Museum, making a decisive contribution to the solution of a number of problems that for a number of years have created obstacles to the development of the project. .
Among other things, as highlighted in the same announcement, the municipality has set aside more than 10 acres of land, providing the appropriate location of the Museum, the creation of the necessary entrances for it, as well as the configuration of parking spaces and common areas.
In parallel with the construction of the Holocaust Museum, the plan of the Municipality of Thessaloniki provides for the creation of a metropolitan park of 100 acres on a wider area, which will include part of the route along which the March of Remembrance will pass.
According to the mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas, the Holocaust Museum will become a global monument against racism and discrimination.
