A huge metal ball washed ashore Japancausing bewilderment among locals and questions about its origin.
It took several hours for authorities and experts, including a bomb disposal team, to identify the mysterious object that washed ashore at Hamamatsu.

Until this is done, the object captures the imagination of the locals, and why not their humor.
More realists called it “mooring buoy”.
Others are “Godzilla’s Egg” and “Space Object”. Some kind of mini UFO that crashed on the beach, the Japanese joked that it was the moon that fell from the sky.
“Thrillers usually start like this,” someone said.
The unusual object was spotted on the shore by two locals who informed the authorities, who in turn cordoned off the area and took an x-ray of the find.
Japanese television showed footage of two local officials inspecting a rusty metal ball about 1.5 meters in diameter on Ensukhama Beach. Pyrotechnicians arrived at the scene and confirmed that he hadn’t brought anything inside, let alone explosives, which added to the tone of menace and therefore general concern.

However, a man who used to run along this beach told Japanese media that he was surprised by the unusual crowd, as he himself had seen a metal ball at this place for some time. “I tried to push her, but she didn’t move,” he told NHK.
After many hours of checking, the police officially identified the object as a buoy, which is expected to be removed from the beach.
This find would not have caused so much surprise and suspicion if its appearance did not coincide with the downing of an alleged Chinese spy balloon over the United States. Japan has complained to China about balloons, likely spy balloons, that have appeared in its skies at least three times since 2019.
