It is an organization dedicated to protecting homeless animals through a network of holistic approaches, from a dedicated shelter to provide care, neutering, shelter and nutrition, to raising public awareness and engaging volunteers. Save a Greek Stray (SGS), founded 11 years ago by Erietta Kurkulu-Latsis, hosted a special evening on February 15th at the Ecali Club to raise funds to support stray initiatives, animal protection, education and training programs, and as well as animal welfare programs.

“SGS has been saving and protecting stray animals in Greece for over a decade. It is an organization that started out as my childhood dream and today has been recognized at home and abroad for its contributions. This is not because of me, but because of the wonderful team with whom I have the honor to work every day,” the founder emphasized in her speech. The truth is that with her sincere devotion to the cause, Erietta Kurkulu-Latsi has rallied dozens of people who offer even those who, for example, cannot get a dog for practical reasons, become “virtual guardians”, supporting it financially, or often go for walks with four-legged animals, which are locked in special cages.

The ultimate goal is not only to give a second chance to those animals who are not lucky enough to grow up in the house, but, above all, to teach children to live in harmony with nature and respect the environment. If this way of thinking is not accepted with soft nails and tested, much more effort will be needed later. Since 2012, Save the Homeless Greek has built the network of partnerships necessary to spread its useful work throughout Greece and limit the abuse that occurs from time to time.

The invitation to the Ecali Club received a great response from the public and sponsors who have supported the work of the non-profit organization for years, such as Europa Insurance and its President and CEO Nikolaos Makropoulos. However, on the side of “Save the Homeless Greek” stood up and many artists. This time Sakis Rouvas excited the audience with his songs.
