In the presence of Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianides and accompanied by the US Ambassador to Greece George Zuni, Anthony Blinken thanked the members of EMAK and EKAV for their contribution to saving lives and expressed gratitude for the work they offer.
“At the invitation of the US Embassy and US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, we arrived here with a team EMAK and his subjects EKAV, as well as two EMAK dogs to recognize the work of these people. That is what they did, going to Turkey from the first groups to save lives,” Christos Stylianidis said after the meeting.
In addition, the minister stressed that it is very important that this recognition be at such a high level by the US government. “Recognition is what motivates them to continue this great and difficult effort that they make when natural disasters occur. What they did in Turkey, they can do anywhere,” he added.
Finally, Chr. Stylianidis emphasized that “their great efforts, like the rest of the humanitarian aid, which was very targeted from the first night, changed the climate in relations between the two peoples.”
During the meeting, Christos Stylianidis presented Anthony Blinken with an EMAK fire helmet, an earthquake specialist, signed by all members of the rescue mission in Turkey that saved five people alive.
