His Security Council UN condemned in a statement today the legalization of nine Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank, saying the settlements are an “obstacle” to peace.
“Israel’s continued settlement activity jeopardizes the viability of the two-state solution,” the SA emphasizes in this statement by its president, which, however, does not have the binding scope of the resolution considered last week.
The statement also said the SA expressed its “deep concern and disappointment” over Israel’s February 12 announcement of further settlement construction and expansion in the occupied Palestinian territories.
