The Ukrainian army is inflicting “extremely significant” losses on Russian forces near the town of Vugledar in eastern Donbas, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said on Sunday, Reuters reports.

“The situation is very difficult. And we fight. We destroy the invaders and inflict extremely significant losses on Russia,” said President Zelensky in his video speech on Sunday evening.

The Ukrainian president mentioned several cities in Donbas, where fighting has been concentrated for months. The war is a victory for Ukraine,” he said.

Volodymyr Zelenskyi also spoke about the state of defense in other areas of the front after an extended meeting of the military command.

The situation is under control near the port of Odesa on the Black Sea, and the troops are “protecting” the central region of Zaporizhzhia, which is partially controlled by Russian troops.

“Very good results” on the northern border with Russia and Belarus, areas where Ukrainian forces regained control of towns in September and October.
