Three people were killed and five were injured today as a result of Russian shelling near Kherson in southern Ukraine, according to local authorities.
“On Sunday morning, Russian artillery shelled the village of Burgunka,” the district administration said via the Telegram app.
Burgunka is located 60 kilometers northeast of Kherson, close to the Dnieper River, the “border” between the territories controlled by Kiev and the territories occupied by the Russian military.
“Three people died on the spot: father, mother, uncle. Four more were injured: a grandmother, an old man, a girl (…) and a boy,” the report says.
According to the same source, another child, an 8-year-old boy, was wounded in the same village.
Goal – energy infrastructure
The Russian military has repeatedly attacked the Kherson region since Russian troops left the city of the same name in mid-November. The main target is the energy infrastructure, which has been badly damaged by massive strikes.
On the Russian side, Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov said today that a young girl was killed by Ukrainian security forces while she was “on the road” in the village of Novaya Tavolyanka, on the border with Ukraine.
Russian occupation authorities in Donetsk also said nine people were injured in Ukrainian shelling of the city of the same name, which pro-Russian separatists have controlled since 2014.
