Britain has provided strong support to Ukraine since the Russian invasion almost a year ago, including by supplying arms and training troops.

It has so far refused to send fighter jets, arguing that the long time required to train pilots and large support crews meant they would be of little use in the near term, but Sunak told an annual security conference in Munich that Britain could help. other ways.

“We will gladly offer the system to any country that can immediately supply fighter jets to Ukraine. Britain is ready to support these countries,” he told reporters in May.

He also said that Western allies should consider how to ensure that Russia pays for the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war ends, and said that the world community must recognize that a new structure is needed to maintain security in the long term.

“From human rights to reckless nuclear threats, from Georgia to Moldova, Russia has committed violation after violation against countries outside NATO’s collective security,” he told the conference.

“And the response of the international community was not strong enough.”
