
Nurse from the Center for Social Welfare of Western Macedonia in Florina is accused of distributing tranquilizer gels to children, according to the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Domna Mikhailidou.
In fact, by order of the deputy minister and after a meeting of the board of directors of the structure, the nurse’s contract was terminated, and she was removed from her position.
As it became known, the nurse allegedly injected gels with herbal sleeping pills for at least two of the 22 children at the age of 6 years without the consent of psychologists and social workers of the institution for two months. -17 .
The corresponding complaint was filed on Wednesday by a child protection officer, and thus the prescribed procedure for the necessary control was initiated. It is reported that the children confirmed this fact.
“Two days ago we received a complaint from a child protection inspector who told us about a structure in Northern Greece that there is a complaint that a nurse appears to be giving elementary school children herbal gels without any agreement or any recommendations, so that they are calmer, that there are not so many worries and that it is easier to sleep at night,” Domna told ERT to Mikhailidou.
At the same time, the deputy minister mentioned that a sworn administrative check was carried out in the institution, and it was also found that the pharmacy of the structure “is short of psychotropic drugs.”
The case has already been referred to the prosecutor’s office. It is noted that this nurse had no criminal record.
