Mitsotakis: a message of condolence for the loss of Moses Elisaph

With excitement Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis says goodbye to the mayor of Ioannina Moses Elisaf, who died at the age of 68.

The Prime Minister refers to Moses Elisaf’s “deep footprint” in his scholarship and notes that “his constant concern in his rich political activity was unity and understanding of common problems.”

Prime Minister’s message

Janina and self-government, medicine and the Israeli community mourn together with all of us Moses Elisaf. A great mayor worthy of a scientist and, above all, a bright person. Because Moses served his city and society with creative passion, no matter what position he was in.

He left a deep mark in his science, teaching at the university, and also actively leading the Second Pathological Clinic of the Janina Hospital. The letters owe much to him as president of the Spiritual Center of his house. As well as public life, which he embellished as the first citizen of his homeland and a member of the Central Israeli Council.

He was the first Jewish mayor in Greece from the Romanian community, perhaps the oldest in our country. And as a descendant of the concentration camp martyrs, he fought for justice for the victims. But for those fortunate enough to know him and work with him, it was the culmination and just reward of a life dedicated to the common good.

His constant concern in his intense political activity was unity and understanding of common problems. With the bridge its impressive moderation. The one who made us work well together during his mayorship and build a warm and sincere relationship.

To his beloved wife Cleopatra, his relatives, his countless friends in Ioannina and throughout Greece, I express my deepest condolences. We will always remember him with great love.
