​Ana Bohdan made it to the last qualifying round in Dubai, the “WTA 1000” category tournament, beating Clara Burel (105th place) in the ranking.

Our athlete, who is ranked 76th in the world (favorite 7 in the qualification), needed an hour and 15 minutes of play to defeat the player from France with a score of 6-0, 6-3.

Bohdan will fight for a place in the main draw with the winner of the match between Poland’s Magdalena Frech (104 WTA) and Czech Tereza Martinsova (98 WTA, favorite 13).

  • After qualifying for the final round of the Dubai Qualifiers, Ana won $7,650 in prize money and 20 WTA points.
  • Romania is also represented in the qualifiers for the tournament in Dubai by Stefania Boiča (831 WTA, 17 years old), who won an impressive victory over Montenegrin Danka Kovinić (63 WTA) in the first round.

The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships runs from February 19 to 25 on hard, is part of the “WTA 1000” category and has a total prize pool of $2,788,468. Simona Halep won the tournament in 2015 and 2020, and the last edition went to Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia.
