Tesla Inc TSLA. is recalling 362,000 vehicles in the US due to flaws in self-driving software, the US Motor Vehicle Safety Inspection said.
The auto safety regulator said Tesla’s software allows a vehicle to “exceed speed limits or pass through intersections in an illegal or unpredictable manner, which increases the risk of an accident.”
However, Tesla has stated that it is not aware of any incidents of injury or death that may be related to the vehicle’s recall.
The recall affects 362,758 vehicles, namely Model S and Model X produced from 2016 to 2023, Model 3 produced from 2017 to 2023 and Model Y produced from 2020 to 2023.
“This feature could potentially violate local laws or traffic regulations when performing certain maneuvers,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in turn.
Tesla recalled nearly 54,000 vehicles in the US last year with FSD Beta software that could allow some models to not stop completely at stop signs.
However, Elon Musk’s company announced that it would update the car’s software for free.
