As tentatively stated in the announcement of the Ministry of Health, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists who have not yet received benefits for hazardous and unhealthy work will receive an allowance of 1,800 euros per year (150 euros per month), and nurses who belong to to organizations that have so far been excluded from granting the allowance, they will receive 200 euros per month with an income of 2400 euros per year. Preferential professions have been defined for the technical staff of hospitals, who are now paid an allowance of 150 euros instead of 70 euros. For nursing staff in hospitals and health centers, the allowance is increased from 150 euros per month to 200 euros.

In particular, by a joint ministerial decision, which has retroactive effect from 01/01/2023, the allowance is determined in five new categories based on the job responsibilities of employees. Persons belonging to category A receive an allowance of 200 euros, category B – 165 euros, category C – 150 euros, category D – 105 euros and category E – 70 euros. Tentatively category “A” includes nurses, nurses, junior nurses, assistant anesthesiologists of hospitals, primary health care structures, AEMI, the National Rehabilitation Center, as well as ambulance teams. Class B includes, in particular, radiologists, radiologists, obstetricians / midwives, paramedics, paramedics, undertakers. In the 3rd category, biologists, technologists, medical device operators, cleaners, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, patrons, physicists, pharmacists, etc.

According to the KYA, the benefit is paid on the condition that the beneficiaries are fully and exclusively employed. If an employee is assigned duties in another industry or specialty that do not justify the payment of a bonus, the bonus is terminated.

“These increases do not apply to us, in the conditions in which we live,” says POEDIN President Michalis Giannakos. He complains that the administrative staff is excluded from the allowance, while noting that in some professions, such as cleaners, the allowance remains at the same level, due to a change in category. In contrast, the OKANA Workers’ Association speaks of a “permanent and fair request”, noting that for the first time since 2007, a real increase has been made to more than 700 employees in the organization.
