There’s the European Car of the Year trophy, which went to the Jeep Avenger a few weeks ago. There’s also the World Car of the Year, whose 10 finalists were also announced a few days ago. And there’s WWCOTY, also known as World Women’s Car of the Year. Never heard of it? You should know that this is an international competition that unites no less than 63 female automotive journalists from 45 countries of the world. Each year, the jury selects six cars in several categories, and then the main winner, who will be presented on March 8, during International Women’s Day.

Jeep again!
If you still have to wait before deciding on the Car of the Year, WWCOTY is announcing the winners by category today. And the least we can say is that Jeep is on a little cloud, while its Avenger just won the award for the best Compact SUV, ahead of Alfa Romeo Tonale, BMW X1 and other Renault Austral. The compact car of the year was the new Kia Niro, which beat MG 4 and Renault Mégane E-Tech. The recently updated Ford Ranger was the pick-up truck of the year.
French women too
If all the awarded cars are foreign, we will still note the presence of a French woman in the list. it’s about Citroen C5 X, named the best sedan of the year, ahead of the BMW 4 Series and fellow Peugeot 408. The best sports car award goes to the Audi RS 3, while the Nissan X-Trail is the best large SUV of the year. All of these cars are now in the running for the top prize of Best Car of 2023!
