NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that Russian President Vladimir Putin made two strategic mistakes when he invaded Ukraine: he underestimated the strength and courage of the people of Ukraine and its armed forces, and he underestimated the determination and unity of the North Atlantic Alliance, The Guardian newspaper reports , which is quoted by News.ro.
“NATO allies offer unprecedented support to Ukraine. We will discuss our continued support, which is essential to help Ukraine prevail as an independent sovereign state and to uphold the rules-based international order. President (Russian Vladimir) Putin made two strategic mistakes – he underestimated the strength and courage of the people of Ukraine and its armed forces, and he also underestimated the determination and unity of NATO and our partners,” said Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday, at the Defense Ministers’ Meeting in Brussels.
US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin and Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov are also participating in the meeting.
During the opening speech, Stoltenberg asked the audience to observe a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the earthquakes that shook Turkey and Syria.
