Rafael Nadal has been forced to pull out of the two tournaments he was registered for after suffering a thigh injury during his second-round loss to Mackenzie MacDonald at the Australian Open.
Rafael Nadal withdrew from ATP Doha and ATP Dubai
Rafa suffered a Grade 2 iliopsoas muscle injury, which resulted in a 6-8 week absence from the ATP circuit.
Thus, Rafa disappeared from the lists of participants in the competition Doha (ATP 250, debut February 20) and Dubai (ATP 500, February 27).
In eight appearances at the tournament in Doha, Nadal reached the final three times and won one title (in 2014, defeating Gael Monfils in the last action).
Rafa has played four times in Dubai and won in 2006 after a final with Roger Federer. The Iberian was to be present at this tournament for the first time since 2008.
It remains to be seen whether Nadal will recover in time to play the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells (March 8-19) and Miami (March 22-April 2).
