Novak Djokovic complained of pain during the 2023 Australian Open and the tournament director said the Serb was playing in Melbourne with a 3cm tear in his left hamstring. Many voices in the tennis world questioned Nole’s injury, the latest being Arina Rodionova (268 WTA doubles).

Arina Rodionova was threatened with death after asking about Novak Djokovic’s injury

Rodionova, previously ranked 41st in the world doubles rankings (July 2015), posted a tongue-in-cheek message after receiving a diagnosis similar to the Serbian one.

“I have a 3 cm hamstring tear, I did some research. I have to be ready to play tomorrow.” Rodionova wrote on Instagram.

Some Novak Djokovic fans were concerned about the post by Arina (born in Russia but has represented Australia since 2014), and she claimed she had received death threats.

“I don’t know why I’m getting all the death threats from Novak fans. For some reason people think I was joking about the injury. Tendon tears are no joke, people go to the hospital with it and can’t walk for days guys. It’s a shame to turn it into a joke.

Some may win Grand Slams, but the rest of us have to take a few days off. Also, I’m assuming you’re not a fan of vaccines, but I’m pretty sure the rabies vaccine works wonders.’ – answered Arina Rodionova.
