If the conflict drags on any longer, the strategy of the official opposition alliances risks shrinking into the “village” of the left. And then the message of progressive management will be clouded.

SYRIZA is not that hard to rally the people who follow her. Measurements show that it is about 70% together with New Democracy. The problem is centered on the direct movement of voters to his right. Everyone shows that they prefer to “stand” either in PASOK or in the gray zone of the undecided. This is exactly what Christos Spirtzis is trying to fight against, whom Alexis Tsipras instructed to create alliances at the level of self-government, which will also work in parliamentary elections. Tsipras is worried about keeping SYRIZA above 30%. It’s not a worry about returning to power. This is primarily a concern for personal political survival,” says an experienced PASOK politician. And, analyzing his rationale, he states that the post-election day will be especially difficult for Alexis Tsipras after another defeat in the elections. And it will become especially difficult if the defeat in the elections is accompanied by a drop in the percentage.

Maybe in Komunduru, despite public opinion polls, they publicly declare that the election result is already predicting the victory of SYRIZA, but in Harilau Trikoupi they believe that this is part of the strategy of doping fans and an attempt to convince the waverers – some of which are traditionally aimed at winning the dominant – choose SYRIZA. PASOK believes that at the moment the leadership of SYRIZA chooses moves, knowing that the party is in second place. “We all read the same polls and we all have an image. Giving the example of Cyprus might be helpful for the fans, but that doesn’t mean the same thing happens with the metrics here. Also in Cyprus, the polls did not show who would be first.

With this data, PASOK is generally extremely wary of SYRIZA’s attempts to contact “either the good or the wild.” Initially, when Nikos Androulakis’ phone surveillance was made public, they saw a friendly attack from SYRIZA. “They thought they could build a front against the government and they took it for granted that PASOK would follow them. In this case, SYRIZA and personally Alexis Tsipras acted almost hegemonic. In Harilau Trikoupi, they see an unfolding strategy on the part of SYRIZA to capture voters from PASOK so that the official opposition party maintains its percentage and possibly claims something better in the upcoming elections. In this strategy, they include a report by the representative of the main opposition party, Popis Tsapanidou, that PASOK’s cooperation with ND. it could be a product of blackmail. “This was not a random mention, a personal assessment, something that got out of hand. Saying and supporting something like this was the central decision of the SYRIZA steering group,” PASOK assesses. This particular message deeply disturbed Nikos Androulakis personally. Not only because he seemed to be making critical political choices with non-political criteria, but also because he seemed open to blackmail. “Basically, what message did the SYRIZA leadership group want to convey? “That Androulakis did something that makes him a hostage, that he is open somewhere and can be caught, that there are elements in him that make him an object of manipulation,” it says.

New “loot”

Thus, the PASOK side believes that Alexis Tsipras’ only concern is to protect himself, and for this he is trying to target the political border areas in order to rob voters and leaders. They believe, however, that it is no coincidence that rumors persist about clandestine communication channels between SYRIZA and PASOK officials for possible cooperation. They believe that this is deliberately sent to the Komundur.

For his at least cautious – bordering on suspicion – attitude towards the leadership of SYRIZA, PASOK refers to the government cooperation of the main opposition party with ANEL Panos Kammenos. As they say, this is a choice that cannot be forgotten and which, despite the apologetic attitude, SYRIZA has never been convincingly explained. “They say they drew conclusions and divorced ANEL at a critical moment. What divorce? ANEL deputies remained to support the government, and some of them were subsequently included on the SYRIZA ballot,” they note pointedly.
