
Russian troops managed to advance 2 km to the west in four days along the Ukrainian front, the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported on Monday, reports the Russian agency “Interfax” with reference to Reuters.
“The Russian military broke the enemy’s resistance and advanced several kilometers deep into its defenses,” the message reads.
“In four days, the front moved 2 kilometers to the west.”
Details about which part of the large front line, which covers several Ukrainian regions in the south and east of the country, have moved have not been reported.
Reuters could not independently verify the information directed at the battlefield.
Some of the fiercest fighting in recent months has been fought in the Donetsk region in southeastern Ukraine, which is partially occupied by Russia and which Moscow wants to completely occupy.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, said on Saturday that the Ukrainian troops are holding the defense on the Donetsk front, and in some areas they managed to regain lost positions.
