Biography of the new President of the Republic of Cyprus

Nikos Christodoulides served the Republic of Cyprus for over twenty years. As a diplomat, as a representative of the government, as a minister of foreign affairs, positions in which he acquired knowledge, experience and skills.

He was born on December 6, 1973 in Paphos. He holds degrees in political science, economics, Byzantine and Modern Greek studies from the City University of New York, Queens College, and postgraduate degrees in political science from New York University and diplomacy from the University of Malta. He holds a PhD from the Faculty of Political Science and Public Administration of the University of Athens.

He was a career diplomat from 1999 to 2018. During this time, he worked, in particular, as Consul General to the High Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in the United Kingdom, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Athens. and Press Attache of Cyprus, Presidency of the Council of the EU, at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Cyprus in Brussels.
