Pierrakakis: There were 772 million digital transactions on gov.gr in 2022

“Completing three years of operation of gov.gr is a great opportunity for us at the Ministry of Digital Governance to tell in detail about the new face of the state. This is an opportunity not only to present the digital services that we have implemented, but also to analyze the philosophy, structure and next steps of the digital state,” said APE-MPE Minister of Digital Governance. Kyriakos Pierrakakis on the occasion of the completion of the three-year operation of gov.gr.

As he notes, “gov.gr was and still is a collaborative effort. It is a product of collaboration between ministries and government agencies, and a partnership between public and private sector leaders. His presentation will also be a team affair.” In fact, speaking of the event hosted by the ministry on Tuesday, February 14, he emphasizes that “in the various panels of the event, we will have the opportunity to listen to some of the ‘invisible heroes’ of this daily work.”

The minister emphasizes that “the progress we have already recorded is reflected both in the daily life of all citizens and in numbers. The tripling of digital services—from 501 to more than 1,500—resulted in an almost hundredfold increase in digital transactions with the government. And it is this exponential growth from 8.8 million digital transactions in 2018 to 772 million in 2022 that means there are more than 100 queues that the average citizen saves each year.

However, we don’t want our event to function as just an account, but rather to be an image from the near future – the way we imagine it in the final version of gov.gr. Our goal is limited: after the next four years, we want all interactions of citizens and businesses with the state to be digital.”

He even ends by saying: “With the experience we have gained and the use of all the tools we have developed in the first four years, we are convinced that this goal is fully achievable. In the end, the great response from citizens to every new digital service we introduce is the biggest motivation for us to continue digital development, improving every aspect of their daily lives.”

1514 digital services

Recall that gov.gr started its work with 501 services and reached 1514. Now citizens can easily and quickly find the necessary public service without any effort.

There are 11 categories available on the Single Digital Portal, including citizen and life, agriculture and animal husbandry, justice, education, entrepreneurship, property and taxation, work and insurance, family, culture and sports, healthcare, and military service. It contains all digital services of ministries, departments, organizations, independent authorities and regions of the state, which are already provided via the Internet.

It should be noted that the current searches on gov.gr are for starting a sole proprietorship that can be run digitally, without the need for the interested party to first register with the General Commercial Register (GEMI) and the National Social Security Agency (eEFKA). ), the transfer of a personal vehicle for use, according to which the process of transferring ownership of a vehicle can be carried out completely digitally, without the need for a physical presence in any public service, in a citizen’s box, i.e. a digital mailbox where a citizen can find documents issued online on the portal or documents issued for the second year by an institution through the portal.

It should be added that there is also the possibility of storing digital documents such as an identity card, driver’s license, disability card, unemployment card in the gov.gr wallet. Digital documents that can be stored on a mobile phone issued through gov.gr are fully equivalent to paper documents for any legal use in Greece.
