Russian Roman Kostomarov, the 2006 Olympic champion in figure skating, had his legs amputated after severe pneumonia, Reuters reports with reference to Izvestia.

Roman Kostomarov’s leg amputations

Kostomorov, who won Olympic gold in Turin in dancing with Tatyana Navka (wife of Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov), was hospitalized on January 10 with complaints of weakness and chest pain.

He was diagnosed with sepsis and pneumonia, placed in the intensive care unit and connected to a ventilator.

Honored master of sports of Russia and coach Kostomarov (46 years old) was left without a paw of one leg and part of the heel and toes of the other leg. He also agreed to have his fingers amputated.
